Rhenz Abando has triumphant KBL return from spine injury

MANILA, Philippines—Rhenz Abando impressed in his return to the Korean Basketball League as Anyang Jung Kwan Jang topped Goyang Sono on Sunday, 92-87, on Sunday at Anyang Stadium.

Abando played his first game since suffering a spinal injury after a bad fall in December against the same team.

The high-flying Abando was back like he never left, displaying his all-around brilliance with 17 points, four rebounds, three assists, four steals and a block in 28 minutes off the bench.

Robert Carter Jr. and Byung-Jun Bae also shone for Anyang with 19 and 14 points, respectively.

Former NBA player Chinanu Onuaku tallied a double-double for Goyang with 26 points and 13 rebounds but to no avail.

Abando is eyeing to play in the East Asia Super League’s Final Four which will take place in Cebu.

The EASL semis will take place this weekend as Abando’s Anyang takes on Seoul SK Knights in an all-KBL clash while the Chiba Jets of the Japanese B.League take on P.League’s New Taipei Kings in the other semis bracket.
