MANILA, Philippines–Princess Honey Arbilon was a cut above the rest on the world stage among women junior pentathletes after bagging two gold medals in the Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne (UIPM) 2023 Biathle/Triathle World Championships in Bali, Indonesia.

The 21-year-old from Ormoc City ruled the girls’ triathle individual junior event in 20 minutes and 2.80 seconds, comfortably defeating fellow Filipino Shyra Mae Aranzado (20:16.30) and Hungary’s Greta Haraszin (20:33.30).

Arbilon, who won a gold medal and two bronze medals when she was just a newbie during the 2019 Southeast Asian Games, charged ahead right in the first round of the run-swim-shoot event and never looked back.

It was evident that Arbilon would seize victory entering the fourth and final round of the 3,200-meter run, 200m swim and 10m shoot with Aranzado and Haraszin slowly fading along with Germany’s Lara Tonak, who checked in fourth in 20:46.

Arbilon later gave the girls’ junior squad a lift to capture top honors in the final of the biathle (run-swim-run) team category with Aranzado and Juliana Shane Sevilla for the nation’s second gold medal.

Apart from girls’ junior silver and the team gold, Aranzado likewise pocketed another silver with SEA Games gold medalist Samuel German in the biathle mixed relay seniors and a bronze in the biathle junior women’s individual.

Team Philippines also claimed a silver in the boys triathle individual under-17 courtesy of Joseph Anthony Godbout and a bronze again from the pair of Sevilla and German in the triathle mixed relay seniors for a two-gold, three-silver, two-bronze output overall.
