MANILA, Philippines—Jonathan Medina hit the game-winner as Jose Rizal University outlasted Lyceum in a battle of attrition, 88-87, in double overtime in the NCAA Season 99 men’s basketball tournament at San Juan Arena on Tuesday.

Medina scored only six points but he made the biggest shot of the game–nailing a double clutch after picking up the loose ball with 8.2 ticks to go.

The Heavy Bombers averted total collapse as they hiked their record to 5-3 after blowing leads, including a six-point advantage with only 48 seconds remaining in regulation.

Joshua Guiab led JRU with 18 points and eight rebounds while Agem Miranda and Marwin Dionisio added 14 each.

The Pirates dropped their third consecutive game after a 6-0 start despite drawing a pair of double-doubles from Enoch Valdez and JM Bravo.

Valdez notched 24 points and 14 rebounds before fouling out in the first overtime while Bravo posted 20 points and 10 rebounds.

Lyceum had a chance to get back on the winning track after Jearlan Omandac split his charities to put the Pirates up, 87-86, inside the final 20 seconds before Medina played hero for the Bombers.
