MANILA, Philippines–LA Tenorio has been declared cancer-free by doctors following a latest test in Singapore, coach Tim Cone said Tuesday.

Cone bared that Tenorio was given a clean bill of health after undergoing a number of chemotherapy sessions since he was diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer in March.

“His last PET (Positron Emission Tomography) scan is cancer-free. He is finished with all of his chemo sessions. He’s been declared cancer-free,” Cone told reporters after a press conference announcing possible changes to the Gilas Pilipinas lineup for the Hangzhou Asian Games.

Tenorio also confirmed the news by sharing the Inquirer Sports’ post on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.

“God is good!” Tenorio said.

The Barangay Ginebra floor general was forced to miss the remainder of last season’s Governors’ Cup following the announcement, ending his record streak of 744 consecutive games.

Cone was also told that Tenorio has also been cleared to join Ginebra practices in the next few days.

“They told him that within days, he can start practicing. In three or four days, he can return to practice,” said Cone.

Tenorio is scheduled to fly back to Manila late Tuesday to once again help Gilas’ preparation for the Asiad as part of Cone’s coaching staff.
