MANILA, Philippines—Not only did Jeremy Lin play in the Philippines for a second time, but he also got to share a special moment with a former teammate in Rondae Hollis-Jefferson on Wednesday at PhilSports Arena in Pasig.

After leading the New Taipei Kings over the Meralco Bolts in the East Asia Super League (EASL), Lin and Hollis-Jefferson exchanged laughs at center court.

“He’s like a little brother to me,” said Lin after finishing with 23 points and 10 rebounds in the 89-77 victory.

“Through my nine years in the NBA, he’s always one of my closest friends.”

Lin and Hollis-Jefferson, who’s in contract with TNT Tropang Giga, were teammates for two seasons in Brooklyn in the NBA.

The 35-year-old guard said he appreciated the gesture shown by Hollis-Jefferson to still come to the game even though it was his birthday and could’ve celebrated in the comforts of his home.

Yet, Hollis-Jefferson arrived in the second quarter with a smile on his face, ready to cheer on Lin.

“Today is his birthday. For him to come out here today and bring his brother and family out today speaks volumes,” Lin said.

“He’s just a great guy and he’s killing it out here and doing a great job. I know he’s having a lot of fun [here] and I appreciate his support for the Kings.”
