MANILA, Philippines—The Filipinas have arrived home in the Philippines with warm welcomes.

The women’s football team arrived at Ninoy Aquino International Airport on Wednesday afternoon, after their historic campaign in the Fifa Women’s World Cup in New Zealand.

This was two days after head coach Alen Stajcic announced he was not returning to his post for the Filipinas.

The Filipinas, who all sported red outfits, were welcomed with rousing participation by cameras and fans alike.

Some players went straight into the buses after arriving from their awe-inspiring run in the Women’s World Cup, where the Filipinas’ bagged a landmark win over co-host New Zealand in the group stages.

They bowed out of the competition after a 6-0 loss to Norway to end their group-stage campaign on Sunday.

Goalkeeper Olivia McDaniel and Sara Eggsevik, however, took a little time to talk to the media along with Filipinas’ team administrator Belay Fernando-Dela Cruz.

The squad will have media availability on Thursday.
