MANILA, Philippines—Deanna Wong felt all the emotions on Tuesday night after Choco Mucho’s thrilling four-set win over Cignal in Game 3 of the Premier Volleyball League’s (PVL) All-Filipino Conference semifinals.

But one of the that that truly showed up for Wong is that of gratefulness as she joins the Flying Titans in their first-ever PVL Finals appearance.

“[I’m] just really grateful and blessed to be here. Well, as a team, our first goal was to be a part of the top four, part of the semifinals,” said the setter at Philsports Arena.

“So now being part of the championship (series), we feel so blessed and grateful to be here.”

Wong was instrumental in the squad’s finals-clinching victory with 24 excellent sets to her name. Her impressive outing also gave way to Sisi Rondina and Kat Tolentino to notch 21 and 17 points, respectively.

With her prowess in setting showcased in the do-or-die bout, fans are expecting her to have a star showdown with Creamline’s Kyle Negrito.

“We’ll see what we see with her every game. Of course, Kyle is really a great setter. I don’t think Creamline would reach where they are now if it wasn’t for her so it would also be a challenge for me to learn from that matchup.”

“Hopefully, whatever we learn as a whole team would be applied in the games. We’re going to be looking forward because we already battled in the UAAP. It’s going to be an exciting challenge.”

Wong and the Flying Titans face a gargantuan challenge ahead of them for the best-of-three series against Creamline as the latter holds a resounding 9-0 head-to-head record over the former.

Game 1 of the PVL All-Filipino Finals is set for Thursday at Mall of Asia Arena.
