MANILA, Philippines—Perpetual Help produced two of the best volleyball players in the NCAA Season 98 volleyball tournaments with Mary Rhose Dapol and Louie Ramirez taking home the Season MVP honors in the women’s and men’s division, respectively.
The Lady Altas may have bowed out of title contention but are slowly building the future with Shaila Omipon joining Dapol in the award recipient’s circle with Rookie of the Year honors.
Joining Dapol, who was also hailed as 1st Best Outside Spiker, in the Mythical Team are 2nd Best Outside Spiker Jade Gentapa from Benilde, 1st Best Middle Blocker Trina Abay from Arellano, 2nd Best Middle Blocker Janeth Tulang from Lyceum, Best Opposite Spiker Gayle Pascual of the Lady Blazers, Best Libero Tracy Andal of Perps and Best Setter Venice Puzon of the Lady Pirates.
Over at the men’s division, Ramirez, who is currently anchoring the Altas in the men’s volleyball finals against San Beda, won the MVP award with only one win remaining to add an NCAA crown to his closet.
Vince Rey Himzon took home the Rookie of the Year while also being included in the Mythical Team as 1st Best Middle Blocker.
Joining Himzon and Ramirez in the fantasy seven are 1st Best Outside Spiker Barbie San Andres from Mapua, 2nd Best Outside Spiker Joshua Ramirez from Emilio Aguinaldo College, 2nd Best Middle Blocker Jethro Cabillan from Arellano, Best Opposite Spiker Joshua Zareno of the Altas, Best Libero Bhim Lawrence Diones of the Generals and Best Setter Adrian Villados of the Chiefs.
MVP Ramirez and the Altas look to sweep the men’s volleyball season when they take on the Red Lions in Game 2 of the Finals today at 12 pm at San Juan Arena.
Benilde, meanwhile, looks to complete its second straight season sweep and back-to-back titles in the Game 2 of his own against Lyceum at 3 pm.
