PVL: Farm Fresh shows improvement after getting second win

MANILA, Philippines — Trisha Tubu and Kate Santiago were pleased with the progress of the Farm Fresh Foxies after getting their second win in their maiden Premier Volleyball League (PVL) season.
Tubu and Santiago combined for 29 points to power Farm Fresh past the winless Galeries Tower, 25-10, 25-18, 24-26, 25-16, in the second PVL All-Filipino Conference on Tuesday at Philsports Arena.
Tubu, who led the way for the Foxies with 15 points, was glad that her team is finally learning to win in the pros with an improved 2-8 record after a winless tournament debut last Invitational Conference.
“This is huge for us since we weren’t able to get a win last conference. In this second conference, we’re finally getting wins. It feels great to see the growth of our team from winning sets, we’re translating it into wins. We’re excited about where our team is headed,” said the one-and-done Adamson product in Filipino, speaking for coach Jerry Yee.
Santiago, who delivered 14 points and eight excellent receptions, added that their second conference will be a good gauge for their young team heading to the 2024 season.
“It boosts our confidence and morale since we’re not winning sets before. As coach said, we’ll continue to take it one step at a time. At least, we’re progressing,” said Santiago in Filipino. “This conference will help us gauge our team.”
Setter Louie Romero continued to shine for Farm Fresh with 20 excellent sets on top of three points, as Alyssa Bertolano and Rizza Cruz added 10 points each with the former contributing 15 digs and five excellent receptions.
The Foxies seek to finish strong in their final game of the season against the Nxled Chameleons on Saturday in Iloilo.
“We’re eager to end the season with a win, which would be our fuel for next season. We will finish this conference strong,” said Tubu.
Galeries Towers refused to be swept in the third set behind Andrea Marzan’s finishing touches to force another frame but Farm Fresh was quick to regain its momentum dominating the fourth to close out the game.
Graze Bombita and Dimdim Pacres led the Highrisers with 10 points each, while Marzan added 10 as they remained winless in nine games with two matches left in their maiden conference.
