MANILA, Philippines — Chery Tiggo added Jeanette Villareal to boost its frontline ahead of the 2024 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) in February.

The Crossovers tapped Villareal, who played for the defunct Gerflor Defenders in the second All-Filipino Conference last year.

“Brave soul spotted. Another product of the green and gold strengthens the ‘Be Brave’ blood within the Chery fam! Welcome to the Chery Tiggo Crossovers, Nette Villareal,” wrote Chery Tiggo after welcoming the middle blocker.

The Far Eastern University product will join fellow new recruits Aby Maraño and Ara Galang after the Crossovers let go of Jaila Atienza, Jaycel Delos Reyes, France Ronquillo, and Bingle Landicho.

Villareal, who can also play as an opposite spiker, will team up with Maraño, Cza Carandang, and Pauline Gaston to take care of Chery’s frontline.

It will be her fourth PVL team after playing for the defunct Perlas Spikers, Army, and Gerflor, which was acquired by Frank Lao’s Strong Group Athletics — the sister team of Farm Fresh.

Chery Tiggo, led by Eya Laure, reached the semifinals of the second All-Filipino Conference only to be swept by unbeaten champion Creamline.
