MANILA Philippines–San Miguel Beer is thrilled to have Don Trollano join an already-loaded lineup that is decimated by injuries in the ongoing PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
“Definitely a Don Trollano is a welcome addition to our lineup especially with all the injury woes we are experiencing right now,” team manager Gee Abanilla said Monday, hours after the PBA Commissioner’s Cup approved the three-team trade with NorthPort and NLEX.
Trollano landed at the Beermen camp shortly after the Road Warriors shipped him to the Batang Pier in exchange for Robert Bolick.
The move comes as San Miguel dropped to 3-3 with two straight defeats, including Sunday’s 94-90 setback at the hands of unbeaten Magnolia at Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
San Miguel is without June Mar Fajardo, Terrence Romeo, Jeron Teng, Simon Enciso and Vic Manuel, and having Trollano would ease some pressure off its healthy players like veterans Marcio Lassiter and Chris Ross, as well as Jericho Cruz and CJ Perez.
“Don is a veteran who is a two-way player that is why we are very excited to see how he can contribute to our team,” said Abanilla.
The trade also reunites Trollano with Cruz and Brondial, former teammates at Adamson, and active consultant Leo Austria, who handled the unassuming wingman during his earlier UAAP days with the Falcons.
“That is why we are optimistic that his adjustment will be smooth and swift,” said the Beermen official.
