MANILA, Philippines—Eduard Folayang is pushing 40 but the legendary Filipino MMA figure believes he still has a lot left in the tank.

After Joshua Pacio’s bout with Jarred Brooks where Folayang was in the former’s corner for Lions Nation MMA, the fighter known as the “Landslide” admitted that he still has more to give in his career in ONE Championship.

“For me, I think there’s still something left before calling it a career,” said Folayang in Filipino recently.

“My target [to fight] is either in the second or third quarter of the year. So while we’re preparing Jeremy (Pacatiw), we’re also training individually because we’re professionals.”

Currently, Folayang and the Lions Nation stable look to notch another big win following Pacio’s victory over Brooks when Pacatiw clashes with Wang Shuo on Friday at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand for ONE Fight Night 21: Eersel vs. Nicolas.

And while lightweight sensation Folayang has no names on the calendar yet for his next fight, he made it clear that he’s staying ready when that call comes his way.

“Anytime, they can give you a call and you’re not ready, the opportunity will be wasted.”

Folayang was in a five-match losing slump that began in 2020 before barging back into the win column after a huge knockout win over Amir Khan in ONE Fight Night 14 last September.

With a new third-round knockout victory under his belt, Folayang has a new target on his back.

If the Lions Nation veteran has any say about it, though, he’s willing to face anyone who’s previously been included in the division’s top five.

“So far, there’re no names in mind although of course, the rankings of the lightweight division underwent some chance so I think the best option is to see who were previously in the top five and prepare for whoever that would be.”
