MANILA, Philippines — Mean Mendrez and Michelle Morente bid farewell to PLDT ahead of the 2024 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) season.
Mendrez, who signed with the High Speed Hitters in 2022, was grateful for the two seasons she played for PLDT.
“To my amazing PLDT family, I’m deeply grateful for the countless opportunities and the incredible journey we’ve shared. Working with all of you has been a wonderful experience,” Mendrez wrote. “Thank you for being a team that not only works together but also uplifts and supports one another.”
The outside spiker out of the University of the East also hinted that she will be playing against PLDT next season.
“No goodbyes, but see you on the other side of the net. I love you all,” she said.
Morente on Thursday wrote her farewell message to PLDT after one season, where she showed her all-around game with two semifinal appearances in the first All-Filipino and Invitational Conference before her fellt short in the season-ending tournament with a 7-4 record in fifth place.
“Maraming salamat sa nabuong masasayang pagkakaibigan. Grateful for all the opportunities and chances na binigay niyo sakin para maipakita ko ulit yung talent ko sa lahat. Salamat sa tiwala PLDT,” said she said. “You will always have a special place in my heart. Till next time.”
Morente and Mendrez emerged as the two of PLDT’s reliable scorers in the 2023 PVL season.
Morente is bound to her fifth club team after playing for F2 Logistics in the Philippine Superliga, the defunct Perlas Spikers in the first pro season of the PVL two years ago, and the Philippine Army last year.
As both spikers will find their new squads for 2024, the High Speed Hitters will bank on their scoring leader in the second All-Filipino Conference, Savannah Davison.
