MANILA, Philippines—After giving out our responses in the past weeks, Kyle Paranada has finally made his decision to stay in the UAAP, except this time, he would be with the University of Santo Tomas.
Last month, Paranada decided to leave University of the East after a breakout season with the Red Warriors in UAAP Season 85.
A few weeks later, Paranada committed with the Growling Tigers, who have not been missing out on offseason moves as of late.
The shifty point guard posted averages of 11.64 points, 4.21 assists, 2.86 rebounds and 1.64 steals last year for the Red Warriors.
Due to UAAP rules, Paranada will enjoy two more years playing in the league for UST after he serves his residency year in Season 86.
Joining Paranada in the Tigers’ den are Filipino-Americans Ashon Andrews, Geremy Robinson Jr. and Leland Estacio.
All four new recruits of the Growling Tigers will have to undergo a residency season to be eligible to play in Season 87.
UST coach Pido Jarencio, meanwhile, looked at the new commitments as a product of the new system in España.
“This is our preparation for the future and we’re happy that we are joined by these kids. This is evidence that a lot are believing in our system and program here in UST,” Jarencio said in Filipino.
Just a few days ago, the Growling Tigers secured the commitments of 6-foot-4 wingman Vince Ventulan.
