Kianna Dy’s career has almost entirely been associated with La Salle—from playing for the Lady Spikers in college to growing up in the club scene in the same familiar environment.
That’s why part of the reason that she’s excited to come back from a long injury hiatus is the opportunity to play alongside new teammates and within a new system.

“It’s kind of exciting … because I’ve been playing with people I’m familiar with … [like my] F2 [Logistics] teammates,” Dy, who is working her way back from a knee injury, told reporters on the sidelines of the partnership signing with Watson’s.
“It’s a new [experience] to be playing with others so I’m really excited to play with Savi [Davison], Kath [Arado], ate Fio [Ceballos], [and] those I haven’t played with.”
“It’s the longest I’ve been out and I’m very excited to spike my first game ball and help my team win,” added Dy.

After her stint with La Salle, Dy suited up for the Cargo Movers. But when her club team disbanded, Dy signed with PLDT.
A ‘surprise’
Dy last saw action in last year’s Invitational Conference semifinals, before injuring her knee. She hasn’t given any timetable for her return, just that she is raring to suit up for the High Speed Hitters.
“Doing good. Hopefully, no more setbacks, that’s all we’re wishing and hoping but progress is ok,” Dy said. “It’s hard to expect [and] give a date and then something happens [that will keep me from playing]. So let’s just make it a surprise.”
Dy’s La Salle and F2 Logistics teammate Jolina Dela Cruz is also training to get back to her competitive form after missing nine months due to injury.
“I have never been injured this long; I’ve never stopped playing volleyball this long even when I was with La Salle,” Dela Cruz said. “I’ve never missed games or trainings so this really feels new and at the same time, it makes me excited to return.” INQ
