Gilas moves a spot higher in new Fiba world rankings

MANILA, Philippines—The newest Fibaworld rankings saw Gilas Pilipinas improve one spot better than it was last year.
From being the world’s 38th-best team, the Philippines hopped to No. 37 after its exemplary showing in the first window of the 2025 Fiba Asia Cup Qualifiers.
Under new permanent coach Tim Cone, Gilas has achieved numerous feats including the team’s latest sweep of Group B in the qualifiers’ first window.

In their first outing in the opening window, Gilas trounced Hong Kong, 94-64, at Tsuen Wan Stadium the went annihilate Chinese Taipei on home soil, 106-53.
Gilas also preserved its footing as one of the continent’s best squads as they remained the No.8-ranked squad in Asia.

The Top 10 of the new standings remained much the same with Latvia, Canada, Argentina, France and Lithuania rounding out spots 6 to 10.
Australia dropped a spot to end up at fifth while Serbia rose a tier higher and became World’s No.4.
USA, Spain and Germany remained as the three best teams in the world at one, two and three, respectively.
