PHNOM PENH—Dines Dumaan dropped his gold-medal match against world champion Khoirudin Mustakim of Indonesia, 25-43, despite throwing a sizable volume of punches in pencak silat at the 32nd Southeast Asian Games.
Mustakim weaved out of harm’s way while sneaking in several kicks, particularly in the third round when the Indonesian seized a huge advantage on his way to capturing the men’s 45-50kg Class A title at the Chroy Changvar Hall here.
“I just felt I was the most aggressive fighter out there,” said Dines, the 2019 SEAG Games champion in the same weight class.
The judges saw it otherwise as Mustakim connected with 15 kicks despite hitting the deck thrice against a rampaging Dumaan.
