MANILA, Philippines — The Cignal HD Spikers have signed six new players led by veteran Madz Gampong after the departure of Marck Espejo and three other players ahead of the 2024 Spikers’ Turf season.

Cignal on Friday welcomed six players including libero Vince Lorenzo, middle blockers Ron Rosales, Nas Gwaza and Giles Torres, and setter Kris Silang.

The team reloaded its roster after Espejo bid farewell to the HD Spikers after five years while he is currently in South Korea, playing for defending champion Incheon Korean Air Jumbos.

Inquirer sources bared that the Spikers’ Turf MVP as well as Ysay Marasigan, Chumason Njigha, and Manuel Sumanguid will be part of Rebisco, which decided to join the men’s volleyball league after its success in the Premier Volleyball League with Creamline and Choco Mucho.

The HD Spikers also retained their core, re-signing Invitational Conference Best Middle Blocker JP Bugaoan, Best Outside Spikers Jau Umandal and Wendel Miguel, setter EJ Casaña, Lloyd Josafat, Alfred Valbuena, and Vince Abrot.

Cignal swept the Open Conference but absorbed its only heartbreaking loss to Sta. Elena-National University in the winner-take-all final of the Invitationals last December.
