MANILA, Philippines—Former national team player Jordan Heading sparked speculations about him finally seeing action in the PBA after watching Game 1 of the PBA Governors’ Cup Finals on Sunday.

Heading hasn’t played in the PBA despite being selected first overall by Terrafirma in the special Gilas Pilipinas draft in 2020.

Prior to being drafted by the Dyip, the Filipino-Australian joined Alab Pilipinas in the now-defunct Asean Basketball League (ABL) in 2019.

But instead of suiting up for Terrafirma, Heading played in Taiwan’s T1 League before taking his act to the Japan B.League with the second-division club Nagasaki Velca and is currently with the West Adelaide Bearcats in the NBL1 Central, a semi-professional league in South Australia.

“I’m just here more for watching the guys that I know and just taking in the great atmosphere that the PBA has,” said Heading.

Heading recently represented the Philippines as part of Strong Group Athletics, which claimed the Jones Cup title last July.

As far as his return with Gilas is concerned, Heading is taking a wait-and-see approach.

“Obviously, coach Tim is busy right now so let’s see what happens in the future.”
