MANILA, Philippines—San Miguel has only two games left in the elimination round of the PBA Philippine Cup and coach Jorge Gallent doesn’t want to look too far ahead.

With the top seeding secured, the Beermen have a chance to sweep the elimination round although it’s not one of their priorities.

For them, the goal right now is to win their next game against Blackwater and nothing more.

“Our next goal is the 10th game. We’re going step-by-step. [On] Monday and Tuesday, we’ll prepare for Blackwater. As of now, we’ll think of the next game, Blackwater,” said Gallent after their 120-103 win over NLEX at Philsports Arena on Sunday.

“If it (sweep) comes, it comes but that’s not really in our minds. We do things step by step, preparing for every team so on Wednesday, we play Blackwater then we’ll prepare for that.”

The Beermen remain wary of the skidding Bossing, who are coming off a heartbreaking loss to the NorthPort Batang Pier on Saturday.

“In that game, they had to win to make it to the playoffs so it was a big game for them. They played 100 percent and just came up short,” said Gallent.

“Unfortunately, Arvin made a great winning shot but in that fourth quarter, they really played as a team and we really need to watch that in the film,” he added, referring to Batang Pier forward Arvin Tolentino, who hit the game-winning jumper with 7.6 seconds left.

San Miguel wraps up its campaign in the elimination round on Saturday against playoff-hopeful Meralco in Batangas.
