One hundred twenty-four member-guest teams open their respective campaigns on Monday when the 36th Mango Tee gets off the ground at Alabang Country Club with a full field of 372 teams.
Players of all skill levels, business tycoons enamored with the game and big names in the entertainment business make up this year’s field, which will play two days with one round counting aggregate scores and the other using the best ball format.
Martin Lorenzo, also the president of the National Golf Association of the Philippines, is in the field together with actors Aga Muhlach and Vic Sotto, members who will partner with Raffy David and Peter Ong, respectively.
“This edition promises to be the most exciting yet, considering our rich history,” Randy Ang, chairman of this year’s organizing committee, said. “We look forward to a full week of fun, competition, and camaraderie.”
The par-72 layout has been whipped to perfect championship form, like in the past years when the fairways were a bit tighter to hit and approaches need to be perfect to hold the greens.
That has been the trademark of the event, which has seen past winners of elite capabilities win the overall title.
